Although this pass is not among the highest motorable passes in the world but still this is one of the riskiest mountain passes to drive which is why this road remains closed during winter because of heavy snowfall and poor road conditions.

The elevation of Zojila Pass is approximately 3529 meters (11,575 ft) above sea level. The oxygen level of this Pass is around 50% (quantity of oxygen molecules per breath). People visiting this Pass without proper acclimatization may suffer altitude sickness, also known as Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), because of less oxygen concentration in the air and high altitude.

The average temperature at Zojila Pass varies depending on the season. In winter, temperatures can drop up to -30; in summer, they can reach up to 20°C (68°F).

So the best time to visit Zojila pass is during summer time (May to October) when the temperature and weather are ideal to visit this pass
